finger sores

3 posts in this topic

Hi folks

I am Christine. I am 56 I have rheumatoid arthritis and overlap scleroderma and Raynaud's. I now have a very sore finger with lumps in it, I guess one day there might be an ulcer !!!!!!!

I have only met one person like myself

I am always cold. How do other people cope? I am quite mobile at the moment on Methotrexate.

My face is starting to alter. I wonder what life will be like when I am old?

Hi Christine

Welcome to our Forums. I am sorry you are troubled with these diagnoses, but you are in good company here. This is a great place for information and support. My first symptoms appeared to be rheumatoid arthritis (RA), though my rheumatoid factor was negative and x-rays have thankfully not shown any synovial breakdown. I still have inflamed joints, morning stiffness and marked fatigue though.

I am not a doctor, but it is possible that your finger lumps could be Calcinosis. There are also some arthritic symptoms involving finger lumps called Heberden's nodes. You can read more about them in this Pubmed article on Heberden's nodes in osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

As for being cold all the time, there are plenty of threads around discussing this. It is a constant discussion on the forums. Poke around or start a new topic. Here is our page on Raynaud's which may offer some help. Hugs to you.

Warm wishes,

Jefa

Hi Christine,

Welcome to both this Forum and our new Scleroderma Society (UK) sub-forum. I'm sorry you are facing multiple health issues. One thing at a time would be plenty, eh? :)

We have a great page, Raynaud's Tips from Patients, with some very useful tips and, as Jefa mentioned, there is almost always a current thread on the Forum on the subject of staying warm. If you need help finding anything, just let us know.

Once again, welcome. Post often, won't you, and let us get to know you.

Warm hugs,
