Hello Friends,

Heres another "Recent" symptom , last six months I heard cracking sounds in my mouth "teeth"

weird, really strange, like an ice cube melting in the tray, so 2 weeks ago I was watching the evening tv with my hubby, eating an Oatmeal bar & Earl Grey Tea, when I found a Chunk in my mouth- 1/2 of a nice white healthy tooth! YIKES ! Then last night friends came for dinner, and was eating ham- Oh must have got a piece of bone in my mouth- NOT! Yup another tooth broke. Thankfully I told the Doctor about this (dry eyes and dry mouth and cracking) this week I go for a "Schirmers" eye test and ENT with Speech Therapist present. Also in 2 weeks I am booked for biopsies - eyelids rash ointment medication and upper lip seems to be getting worse, 75% of eyelids now red and swells, itchy (not too itchy) and 1/2 of upper lip. I would post a picture- but can't figure out how to make it size required.

I bet my dry eyes are getting affected by the Chloroquine meds I have been on the past year, Schirmer results will tell all, I will keep my new Friends updated when I get results.

Just crossing another Scleroderma hurdle, Just call me "Granny from Beverly Hillbillies! remember her smile, Ha hah, Gotta have fun with this, Still Smilin.

Hello Sandra

How right you are, you just have to laugh! I hope you get some answers from the tests soon and that no more teeth are effected.

Take care.

Hi Sandra

Wow, first I've heard of this too...never heard of Schirmers before...it seems there is always something going on, doesn't it? I hope your tests go well and that things settle down for you!

Sending good wishes your way!

Hi Sandra,

I can relate to this. Over the past months my teeth have suddenly begun to 'snap off'. When one on my front crowns snapped off at the base if the root I thought I could just go to the dentist and have it placed back in but no! My dentist told me that due to my health problems she was referring me to the 'Hospital' dentists. She said that I would most likely have all of my teeth removed! :o

I was very upset and shocked for weeks until my appointment, when the hospital dentist told me that he didn't agree at all. I only need to have 3 teeth out. He said the roots of the 'snapped off' teeth will have to be removed. I'm having it all done this Thursday.

I am really nervous as I'm petrified of the dentist and I don't cope with pain very well at all. But I'm so glad I'm not losing the lot.

Best wishes Sandra!

Sandra, welcome to our forum. Sorry to hear what is going on with your teeth. I had the same type thing happen to mine. My teeth also crumbled and after having 4 root canals and new pearly whites added, things seemed to slow down for me. I had dry eyes and mouth for about a year which also decided to calm down and eventually go away. Amazing what happens with this disease the facial pain also decided to leave. I have been pretty happy about that. Keep us informed on your results of the Schirmer testing. Let us know how you are doing with anything else going on in your system.

Strength and Warmth,

Sheryl

Hi Sandra,

Sorry to hear about your issue  . Forgive me if this is irrelevant, as your problem sounds very serious, but my dentist made me a guard (sorry brain not working and can't remember the name of it). I wear it at night and it sits on the upper front teeth and prevents me from applying pressure to my teeth during the night. You have to have an impression made which is never fun and then they fit it on you. It was not cheap, but may be it's worth a discussion with the dentist?

Warm regards,

Charliehorse. :bye:

Hi Sandra,

I'm relieved that the dentist was found to be incorrect, in this instance.

Since my Sclero diagnosis, I've had 4 teeth extracted. I didn't have any problems

with it, as I thought I might.

I'm hoping the same for you. Keep us posted on how you do?
