summer
I have been diagnosed with Crest/Limited Scleroderma for about 3 years now. I don't have any skin issues, only tendon/joint pain, Raynauds and internal thing going on. For the last few months, I have been having problems with one of my toes, the one just before the little toe. I don't have any ulcers, but experience pins and needles followed by the toe being red and hot to touch, and it feels like a sharp hot needle is being pushed into it. This can last a few minutes or up to half an hour. I also am not able to walk at all as the little bit of pressure standing is excruciating. The only thing that helps is putting my foot on a very cold floor. I mentioned this to my Rheumatologist a few weeks back, and she mentioned that it could be neurological and to increase my Amitriptyline. Well I have done that , but the attacks are happening more frequently. I am not due to see her now until after the holidays. Has anyone else experienced this or something similar?. Many thanks Summer
nan
Summer, I too have CREST. I have experienced that type of pain in my toes. Mine hasn't been bad enough that I can't walk, but it is quite painful. Mine doesn't happen all the time. I don't really know what to tell you to do. I would definitely bring it up again with your rheumatologist. Take care, Nan
Sweet
Hi Summer, What you are describing could be completely unrelated to your CREST. I would make an appointment with your primary care provider instead of the rheumatologist and get their opinion. It sounds like it's been going on long enough, that I would see if you can get down to the bottom of it.
Amanda Thorpe
Hello Summer I'm with Sweet, see your doctor and do let us know the outcome. It's easy to put everything down to sclero but it may not be the cause here. I do hope you get some relief soon. Take care.
