Little toe problem

Recommended Posts

I have been diagnosed with Crest/Limited Scleroderma for

about 3 years now. I don't have any skin issues, only tendon/joint

pain, Raynauds and internal thing going on.

For the last few months, I have been having problems with one of

my toes, the one just before the little toe. I don't have

any ulcers, but experience pins and needles followed by the toe

being red and hot to touch, and it feels like a sharp hot needle is

being pushed into it. This can last a few minutes or up to half an hour.

I also am not able to walk at all as the little bit of pressure standing

is excruciating. The only thing that helps is putting my foot on a very cold

I mentioned this to my Rheumatologist a few weeks back, and she mentioned

that it could be neurological and to increase my Amitriptyline. Well I have

done that , but the attacks are happening more frequently. I am not due to see

her now until after the holidays.

Has anyone else experienced this or something similar?.

Many thanks

I too have CREST. I have experienced that type of pain in my toes. Mine hasn't been bad enough that I can't walk, but it is quite painful. Mine doesn't happen all the time. I don't really know what to tell you to do. I would definitely bring it up again with your rheumatologist.

Take care,

Hi Summer,

What you are describing could be completely unrelated to your CREST. I would make an appointment with your primary care provider instead of the rheumatologist and get their opinion. It sounds like it's been going on long enough, that I would see if you can get down to the bottom of it.
