Determining the necessity for right heart catheterization (RHC) in pulmonary hypertension (PH) associated with connective tissue diseases (CTD) assessed by echocardiography. These findings demonstrate the necessity for RHC and differences in prognosis of PH in CTD. Wiley Online Library, 10/07/2015. (Also see Connective Tissue Diseases and Pulmonary Hypertension Diagnosis)

Hyperviscosity in primary Sjögren's syndrome: clinical implications. High viscosity was present in almost half of the patients and was associated with vasculitis and higher activity scores. Wiley Online Library, 10/07/2015. (Also see Sjögren's Syndrome)

Atypical central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO): an uncommon cause of retinopathy and visual loss in dermatomyositis. The exact pathomechanism of CRAO in dermatomyositis remains poorly elucidated and a prompt ophthalmological opinion/management is recommended to limit its progression. PubMed, Int J Rheum Dis, 09/25/2015. (Also see Symptoms/Complications of Dermatomyositis)

Anti-MDA5 is associated with rapidly progressive lung disease and poor survival in U.S. patients with amyopathic (CADM) and myopathic dermatomyositis (DM). Anti-MDA5 antibody is significantly associated with interstitial lung disease, rapidly progressing interstitial lung disease, worse pulmonary outcome, and survival in US classic DM and CADM patients. PubMed, Arthritis Care Res (Hoboken), 09/28/2015. (Also see Myopathy and Myositis)

Dental Implants in Patients with Sjögren's Syndrome (SS). Implant therapy is common in a cohort of SS patients and seem to perform comparable with implants in healthy patients. PubMed, Clin Implant Dent Relat Res, 09/24/2015. (Also see Dental Implants)

Illness perception in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients: The roles of alexithymia and depression. Comprehensive Psychiatry, 09/30/2015. (Also see Treatments for Lupus and Depression)

Tacrolimus (TAC) use in lupus nephritis: A systematic review and meta–analysis. In moderately severe lupus nephritis, there is some evidence supporting efficacy of TAC or multi–target TAC+ mycophenolate (MMF) over IV cyclophosphamide, but no evidence supporting TAC over MMF. PubMed, Autoimmun Rev, 09/29/2015. (Also see Treatments for Lupus)

Affective Modulation of Brain and Autonomic Responses in Patients With Fibromyalgia. Patients with fibromyalgia rated all environments as more negative and arousing than did healthy controls. PubMed, Psychosom Med, 2015 Sep;77(7):721-32. (Also see Fibromyalgia)

Effects of music on pain in patients with fibromyalgia. The effect of music has been found to control pain in fibromyalgia patients and music therapy should be suggested in pain management for fibromyalgia patients as an non-pharmacologic nursing intervention. PubMed, Clin Rheumatol, 08/06/2015. (Also see Treatments for Fibromyalgia)

Impact of diabetes mellitus and its complications: survival and quality–of–life in critically ill patients.
