Intensive management for moderate rheumatoid arthritis: a qualitative study of patients' and practitioners' views. Some practitioners applied motivational interviewing techniques during standard care appointments and they would like the opportunity to address lifestyle issues with patients. PubMed, BMC Rheumatol, 2019 Mar 28;3:12. (Also see Treatments for Rheumatoid Arthritis)

MicroRNA-506 (miR-506) inhibits rheumatoid arthritis fibroblast–like synoviocytes proliferation and induces apoptosis by targeting TLR4. miR-506 may be a potential target for RA prevention and therapy of RA. PubMed, Biosci Rep, 04/11/2019. (Also see Causes of Rheumatoid Arthritis)

A simplified lung ultrasound (LUS) for the diagnosis of interstitial lung disease in connective tissue disease: a meta–analysis. We found a modified and simplified method of LUS, by scanning 14 lung intercostal spaces in a short time, which had a very high sensitivity and specificity. PubMed, Arthritis Res Ther, 2019 Apr 11;21(1):93. (Also see Connective Tissue Disease and Pulmonary Fibrosis Diagnosis)

Prevalence of fibromyalgia among women with deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE). The estimated prevalence of fibromyalgia was higher among women with DIE and women with DIE and positive fibromyalgia screening had lower health–related quality of life. PubMed, Int J Gynaecol Obstet, 04/11/2019. (Also see Fibromyalgia)

Is high–frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) of the left primary motor cortex superior to the stimulation of the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex in fibromyalgia syndrome? Significant improvements in physical role functioning, physical functioning, depression, and general health perceptions were achieved in active rTMS groups. PubMed, Somatosens Mot Res, 2019 Apr 8:1-7. (Also see Treatments for Fibromyalgia)

Amplifying the concept of psoriatic arthritis: The role of autoimmunity in systemic psoriatic disease. The purpose of this review is to describe the new pathogenetic mechanisms and the different clinical pictures of Systemic Psoriatic Disease. PubMed, Autoimmun Rev, 04/05/2019. (Also see Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis)

Case Report: Efficacy and Metabolic Effect on Serum Lipids of Apremilast in Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA). Our observations suggest that apremilast is effective in controlling mild skin and joint involvement and suggest a potentially advantageous metabolic effect in patients with PsA. PubMed, J Clin Med, 2019 Mar 22;8(3). (Also see Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis)

Sarcoidosis and the Liver. Therapy may be indicated in a minority of patients to control symptoms, but the effects of therapy in the natural history of hepatic granulomas are unknown. PubMed, Clin Liver Dis, 2019 May;23(2):331-343. (Also see Sarcoidosis)

Septic shock among patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE): short and long–term outcome. Analysis of a French nationwide database. Septic shock is a frequent and severe complication among SLE patients even if it is not associated with more healthcare use than another episode of same severity. PubMed, J Infect, 04/08/2019. (Also see Symptoms and Complications of Lupus)

Mechanistic insights into environmental and genetic risk factors for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). This information is expected to provide practical insights into these risk factors in order to benefit patients with SLE and facilitate the development of potential therapeutic strategies. PubMed, Am J Transl Res, 2019 Mar 15;11(3):1241-1254. (Also see Causes of Lupus)
