PubMed, Arthritis Care Res (Hoboken), 09/20/2019. (Also see Cancer)

A Wide Spectrum of Ocular Manifestations Signify Patients with Systemic Sclerosis (SSc). Eyelid skin abnormalities, dry eye disease and retinal abnormalities are among the most common SSc-related ocular involvements. PubMed, Ocul Immunol Inflamm, 2019 Oct 2:1-9. (Also see Eye Involvement)

The Roles of IL-1 Family Cytokines in the Pathogenesis of Systemic Sclerosis (SSc). Here, we aim to give a brief overview of IL-1 family cytokines and discuss their pivotal roles in the pathogenesis of SSc. PubMed, Front Immunol, 2019 Sep 13;10:2025. (Also see Interleukins)

Classifications of scleroderma renal crisis (SRC) and reconsideration of its pathophysiology. We provide evidence suggesting that better categorization of patients presenting with certain clinical features of both narrowly defined-SRC and thrombocytic micro-angiopathy will improve treatment approaches. PubMed, Rheumatology (Oxford), 09/30/2019. (Also see Kidney (Renal) Involvement)

Effect of Impairment-Oriented and Function-Oriented Exercises on Mouth Function in Subjects with Systemic Sclerosis. The results of this study suggest that rehabilitation appears to be useful in reducing tongue and lip impairments and in improving oral functions in subjects with scleroderma. PubMed, Folia Phoniatr Logop, 2019 Sep 24:1-13. (Also see Microstomia)

Individuals With Scleroderma May Have Increased Risk of Sleep-Disordered Breathing. In our cohort, approximately one-third of individuals with scleroderma had evidence of sleep-disordered breathing. PubMed, J Clin Sleep Med, 10/09/2019. (Also see Sleep Disorders)

Demyelinating syndrome in systemic sclerosis and neuromyelitis optica (NMO). The finding suggests that patients presenting with acute neurological manifestations get tested for NMO-IgG/AQP-4 antibodies. PubMed, BMC Neurol, 2019 Oct 14;19(1):234. (Also see Brain (Cerebral) Involvement)
